Asylum enforces no dress code. Individuals are encouraged to be just that... Individual. If you feel like coming out
in a t-shirt and jeans, hey more power to you. But wouldn't it be much more fun to take a few minutes and come
up with a more interesting outfit? After all it just adds that much more to the overall atmosphere of the night.
Speaking of atmosphere. One thing we feel is lacking in a lot of events these days is, atmosphere". At Asylum
atmosphere is the number one priority. Everything from the choices in music, to the lighting and visuals, to the variety
and appearance of the patrons. Asylum is Atmosphere.
Asylum spins dark Post-Punk dance music. The beauty of this is that Post-Punk was influenced by so many different
styles, and influenced almost as many, we can incorporate endless amounts of genres, everything from Deathrock to
Analouge Synthpop. 2-Tone Ska, 70s Glam, Proto-Punk, Industrial, New Wave, the list is endless. If you request a song
and we have it, we will try as hard as possible to spin it. It's really our goal to spin enough good and varied music for
you, that you won't need to request anything in particular. We also highly encourage our patrons to request the songs
that they want to hear, and not what they always request at other clubs (because that's the only thing the DJ's will
play). If we don't have a request, we will work with you untill we find something you like.
Asylum highly supports the NEW LIVE music scene, in the future we will host talented dark local bands, and possibly
out of town ones as well. Asylum is proud to be one of the first events in the bay area to spin NEW local bands.
Something a lot of clubs tend to forget about. We tend to announce new talent before or after we spin it as well, just
so our patrons are aware of it. And of course any inquiries about a song you might not know, but are dying to find
out about are always welcome!
Finally.. Asylum embraces Passion, and rejects Pretention. So please leave your attitudes at the door, and save your
drama for yo mama (haha!). Come out, have a drink, make a request, DANCE!, chat with strangers, and above all....
